RA 11650 Brings Hope To Families with Special Needs

JESUS HUGS MINISTRIES INC. reveres the passage of Republic Act

11650 or “An Act Instituting a Policy of Inclusion and Services of Learners with Disabilities in Support of Inclusive Education, signed into law by President Rodrigo Duterte on March 11, 2022.

As an advocate for children with special needs, this is a breakthrough that is most awaited by countless parents who long to safeguard the recognition, protection, and promotion of the rights of all children with disabilities.

With the enactment of this law, we pray that barriers and wrong perceptions that prevent children with disabilities from getting equal access to education will be removed. This will also protect families against exuberant costs being charged by SPED Schools and Centers, a fact, that we, know too well.

For many years, there was very little support programs and resources extended to families with special needs to address their holistic education needs that include, among others, inclusive public awareness, learning resource centers, accessible materials, family education, pre- and in-service professional development for teachers and child development workers, and an advisory council.

Jesus HUGS Ministries Inc. President and CEO, Daisy Callanta said:

Children with special needs as learners have long been victims of various forms of discrimination, inequality, bullying and abuse. As a parent who used to have an autistic child, I witnessed and experience all these first hand. Before pandemic, many Filipino families with special needs, even for those who can afford it financially, still there was very limited access to quality and basic education. Imagine how more difficult it is for those less privileged, whose at greater risk of receiving none at all. I am hopeful, that through this law, we would see more improved and inclusive programs and services for learners with disabilities.

In the mean time, we know that much is yet to be done. We in Jesus HUGS Ministries, will continue to do our share to raise awareness, free community programs and support counseling for families with special needs.

Faith In Action

Faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance of what we do not see. – Hebrews 11:1

By faith, in 2016, I received the baptism of the Holy Spirit through a divine encounter with Jesus Christ. It was exactly seven days since then, by faith, I received and claimed Josiah’s miraculous “complete healing” from autism. Jesus turned our ordinary family into extraordinary because of this miracle.

By faith, in 2017, Jesus asked John and I to buy a land. We didn’t know what we will do with it, but we knew we had to.

By faith, in 2018, When Jesus asked me to, I leaped in faith, left work for good to embrace full time ministry to serve Christ. A decision people thought I was crazy to make given I was the sole provider back then. John’s contract overseas was abruptly cut short.

With both of us out of work, I still left for Maui for a month to become a certified Evangelist. When I came back, the Lord asked me to establish Jesus HUGS Ministries. A woman totally clueless but armed with faith that I know who called me.

By faith, in 2019, with only three months from the time John started with his new job, Jesus asked us to buy a “pick up truck” then donate it to Jesus HUGS Ministries to be used for future mission trips. We followed. From there, we went to various places to share the gospel and love of Jesus.

June of the same year, Jesus asked me to write, publish and launch the book, “God Is Bigger than Autism.” God commended our obedience when new doors and Kingdom connections were opened for Jesus HUGS Ministries.

By faith, in 2020, Christ gave a VISION to build a Jesus HUGS Center. When I asked Him where, He simply said, build it in the land that you had bought. We quickly did as we were told and donated the 500 sqm. land for God’s work. My parents joined the call and they too, donated 500 sqm. more.

Amidst pandemic, multiple online ministries were birthed that gave way for God’s work to expand farther both here and across nations. This led us to meet “awesome and wonderful” people who became dear friends and ministry partners.

I have been living in faith since 2018. I did things only as the Lord instructed me to. Because we do, we were never lacking but always overflowing. As a woman in the ministry, I have experienced countless ridicule from people, even from those I trusted and loved. Pastors and co-workers in the ministry who laughed at me, because compared to them and their years of experience, I had no earthly connection or prior experience.

I have no ill feelings towards them. They were used by Jesus as my “grace developers.” People like them, propelled me to hold on to Jesus more and be gracious even when it hurts.

Indeed, I am nothing without Jesus. But just like the widow, I gave Jesus everything I had. He held my hand and never let go. He made a way when there was no way. He opened Kingdom connections who in turn, became new friends and mentors in Jesus.

By faith, in 2021, the Lord said, it is time to start building the Center. A daunting task that will fail, unless Christ is in it.

THIS IS IT …. WE ARE FINALLY TAKING THE FIRST STEP towards building this new center, with the little amount we have now. Trusting Jesus will take care of the rest.

I CAN’T BELIEVE THAT JESUS IS ACTUALLY BUILDING THIS NOW IN THE MIDDLE OF PANDEMIC … We do not know how Jesus will provide, but by faith, when He gives the vision, Christ alone gives the provision. When it is His Will, He surely takes care of the bill.

One thing is certain, all these are possible because of Jesus Christ who provides. He gave us kind and generous ministry partners and donors of Jesus HUGS Ministries.

Thank you Holy Spirit for empowering me and my family to live by faith, not by sight.

“And without faith, it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to Him must believe that He exists and that He rewards those who seek Him.” – Hebrews 11:6

Radical faith and obedience, lead to radical grace.

Operation Jesus HUGS: Isabela

Project Poso Sa Puso

November 27, 2020

After completing an immediate feeding program to more than 200 indigenous Badjaos gravely affected by Typhoon Ulysses, we prayed Jesus for our next action steps.

Jesus gave my husband, John Callanta, a vision of “poso” (water pump).

As I sought for more instructions from the Lord following this vision, Jesus told me, “Daisy, give them the gift of clean water,” for this is what they really need. In giving them water, they will forever experience God’s love, for I am Jesus, the Giver of Living Water. Help them recover and rebuild their lives that will last for generations to come.”

John 7:37-38 “Let anyone who is thirsty, come to Me and drink. Whosoever believes in Me, as Scripture has said, rivers of Living Water will flow from within them.”

In less than a week, despite the pandemic, Jesus led us to a local Pastor who willingly became our hands and feet to complete this project. Even with travel restrictions in the country, the Lord gave us a way.

Indeed, when the Jesus shows a vision, He gives the provision. When Jesus sets us on a mission, He will carry us through it completion. When it is the will of Jesus, He takes care of the bill.

To God be the glory!

To all our ministry donors and partners, thank you. May the Lord return a thousandfold what you all have seeded in the furtherance of God’s Kingdom.

Operation Jesus HUGS: Taal

A Taste of Miracle of Fishes and Loaves

February 1, 2020

1

The miracles of our Lord Jesus were never just arbitrary, spur-of-the-moment bursts of “raw” supernatural power.

No way!

The miracles of Jesus Christ were designed to teach as well as to authenticate His deity. They were always planned and purposeful demonstrations of the power of God. The “how-to” of meeting needs is the miracle which we experienced first hand in a bigger scale this week.We have seen and tasted God’s miracle of multiplication!

The donations we’ve received and the amount the ministry apportioned were no match with the gigantic needs of the people affected by Taal now that they are starting to rebuild their lives.Jesus impressed on our hearts to give out 200 grocery bags.

While buying the items we listed, reality struck sharply as we realized just how little we can afford to give. With childlike faith, Daisy uttered a simple prayer and asked Jesus to multiply what little we had.Little did I know that He already did. When John and I got home, we were surprised to see donations our friend Ian collected. We actually saw how our fishes and loaves multiplied before our very eyes that night.

2

The Php 40,000 worth of goodies quickly multiplied to almost Php 100,000 worth of donations received a day before the outreach.  This included 200 pcs of freshly baked loaves of bread. 🙂

Everyone worked tirelessly to repack everything. With no sleep, off we went to Tanauan in partnership with VCF last Saturday. With Ptr. Henry and his flock, we were able to share the gospel and distribute relief goods.

Praise Jesus! More than a hundred people accepted Jesus as their Lord and Savior.

As we saw the crowd grew bigger, we knew that the 200 bags were not enough. The names on the list were already 215 and many still came.

Thank you Jesus. We don’t know how, but every family represented from those crowd went home with Jesus in their hearts and grocery bags on their hands.

Jesus once again, multiplied in a supernatural way.

From this miracle, I realized that the giver of the “five loaves and two fish” will always be blessed along with the receiver. In fact, we ended up with far more than we had when we started!

Even after the relief operations, we had left over bags to give out to people in Talisay, Batangas.

Our hearts almost bursted in pain as we saw their hard living conditions. Relief goods do not reach them. Yet with the very little we gave out, they were so grateful.

We saw the need and we have decided to come back to them on Saturday.

With this vision, in faith, Jesus will give the provision to resupply our resources for the further meeting of their needs.

Jesus taught us to “give what we have.” We are not expected to give what we don’t have, but we are expected to give what we do have!

Are you still clinging to your “five loaves and two fishes to meet your own needs and wants? Or have you turned everything you have over to the Lord?

Just like the boy who gave his whole lunch to the Lord, we can be sure that God will continue to meet our needs as we work with Him in meeting the needs of others!

To all our volunteers, donors and partners, thank you. May the Lord return a thousandfold what you all have seeded in the furtherance of God’s Kingdom.

Operation HUGS IN ACTION: Taal

Taal Volcanic Eruption

January 14, 2020

Jesus HUGS Ministries under “Operation HUGS In Action,” in partnership with RBC MDC Corporation, Hopewell Integrated School and Christ Followers Fellowship have responded to the call of service.

Together with our volunteers, we worked together to sort and repack donations for the relief goods for the affected families of the “Taal Volcano Eruption.

Although we are in Cavite, none compares with the devastating situation our kababayans in Batangas have suffered. Jesus Christ commanded us believers to help those in need for His Name’s sake.

Jesus HUGS Ministries are thankful to Navara Nation PH, through Ian Jay Perminola, for taking on the big task of directly transporting and distributing these goods to the people of Batangas.

All glory and honor to Jesus alone.

Bato Bato sa Langit, Tamaan Ka Sana Ng Langit

Slide2

Book Launch: June 22, 2020

Bato Bato sa Langit, Tamaan Ka Sana Ng Langit

Being an HR practitioner for 22 years, I have personally handled many cases and also experienced “bullying” in the workplace.

For my next book, it is my prayer that I am able to impart biblical principles how to “fight bullies” through grace.

This book is a compilation of true stories of workplace “bullies” I would rather call as “grace developers.”

Grace developers, who, despite their stature and titles, often, are really “in pain.” Unknowingly, because of their actions, they have transformed ordinary people to be extraordinarily “gracious.”

Awesome people of faith, who, despite the “Goliaths” at work became “Davids” in truth, love and grace through Jesus.

Say “no” to workplace bullying. Say “yes” to the gospel of love and grace of Jesus.

See you at the book launch will be on June 22, 2020. For those who want to pre-order, send me an email at daisy@hugs-ministries.com

The Goodness of God

By now, many of you have heard about our “supernatural” journey against autism.

What medical experts claim as a lifelong disorder with no known cause and no cure became a story of “miracle” when our youngest son, Josiah, was healed instantly on June 22, 2016.

It is for this reason that June 22 became so close to my heart.

When I was in Maui last August 2018, Jesus gave me a promise that upon returning to the Philippines, He will entrust me with a ministry that goes beyond what I could ever imagined.

With that, was a vision that starting June 22, 2019, we will annually host a “Thanksgiving Jesus Festival” where many will come and celebrate what the Lord has done and will continue to do in our lives.

It is true, that being new in the ministry, I may not have the connection and support system than those who have gone ahead of me.

Praise Jesus for I am never alone. At no point will I ever going to be empty handed. All the help I needed is with me all along.

I have the Great Triune God on my side.

Philippians 4:13
“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”

I have my family and relatives as my strongest support system. Not to mention my crazy for Jesus friends in CFF. I have my truest friends over the years who traveled far just to be with us.

We were surrounded by people who truly loved us!

Jesus provided and paid for everything through Jesus HUGS Ministries even prior the event. How God’s economy of multiplication works is beyond me. 🙂

Armed with a vision and a promise from Jesus, I knew that June 22 was a date God has written in heaven. A heavenly covenant from Jesus that no man and not even the gates of hell can shut.

Indeed, what God originates, He alone orchestrates!

Looking back, in less than a month, Jesus arranged everything. Every detail necessary. Not one tiny thing was missed out. I am still in awe by the clarity in which I saw and heard His instructions when I soaked even more in His presence.

During the “Thanksgiving Jesus Festival,” we simply celebrated the GOODNESS OF GOD.

Through the power of the Holy Spirit, many have come to know Christ. People were redeemed, restored, delivered, healed and freed in Jesus’ Name.

Jesus alone deserves the fullest glory and praise!

Thank you for everyone who came. We are truly grateful.

To God be the glory!
